Emily Soffel
Therapist
Emily believes that humanity is designed for healthy functioning through flourishing connection with oneself, relationships, and God. She strives to provide a safe space for clients to share their journey as a way of working towards restorative awareness and growth. Emily engages clients from a holistic and integrative perspective utilizing evidence-based practices—such as cognitive behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness and brain-based modalities—as the roadmap to obtaining a life not of surviving but thriving.
Emily has more than six years of experience working in the mental health field with a background in juvenile residential treatment, therapeutic day treatment within schools, and intensive outpatient and outpatient therapy services for substance misuse and co-morbid disorders. This has afforded her a love for incorporating trauma-informed practices and community support in the treatment of a wide range of ages and challenges. Specifically, Emily has experience working with clients struggling with substance misuse, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, spiritual issues and chronic illness.
Emily has a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Counseling from Northland International University in Dunbar, Wisconsin. Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of West Virginia. Additionally, she is EMDR trained through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association and maintains certification as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist through the National Acupuncture and Detoxification Association and the West Virginia Board of Acupuncture.
